Arc of Indian aLogo and LinkMedicaid Waiver Workshops: The Arc of Indiana will conduct 11 workshops throughout Indiana , March 27-May 23, 2007, designed to provide up-to-date information on Medicaid Waivers and how to make the best possible use of funds and services available from Waivers for persons with disabilities. Individuals recently “targeted” to receive a Medicaid Waiver, those already receiving Medicaid Waiver Services, service providers, or case managers, should plan to attend. The Arc strongly encourages you to come as a team (parent, Medicaid Waiver recipient, case manager, direct support professional, and other key providers).

Agenda items include:

· What's New with Medicaid Waivers;
· What Really is Person-Centered Planning; and
· Making the Person-Centered Plan Real in the Individualized Support Plan.

There are no costs associated with these workshops but registration is required. Visit http://www.arcind.org and click on upcoming events to access workshop locations and registration forms.

Center Project Update

Indiana Resource Center for Autism Logo and LinkFirst Responder Training: The Indiana Resource Center for Autism at the Indiana Institute was partially funded by the Autism Advocates of Indiana to create training modules to inform First Responders (e.g., fire, police, and paramedics) about issues and strategies for interacting with individuals on the spectrum. Through collaboration with Homeland Security, 11 regional trainings have been scheduled to begin to disseminate this information across Indiana. These trainings are designed to build capacity of statewide training entities, parent support group leaders, and autism team leaders to deliver this information in their local communities. Material development reflects a collaborative statewide effort with guidance from Dennis Debbaudt, a nationally recognized expert in First Responder training. For more information, contact Brian Ketzner at (812) 855-6508, e-mail bketzner@indiana.edu, or visit http://www.iidc.indiana.edu/irca/fmain1.html for more information on autism.
